Provo Housing Authority owns and manages an attractive
array of Public Housing rental properties located in scattered-site
settings throughout Provo City. These community-oriented sites are
quality living environments for low-income families, disabled
individuals and senior citizens. Rent amount are based on family
size and income. Generally, residents of Public Housing pay about
30% of their adjusted gross income toward rent.
Provo has a total of 250 units of public housing, owned
and managed by the Housing Authority, and located at 25 scattered sites
in the city. Of the total units in operation, 110 are one bedroom
elderly and 140 family units ranging from 1-4 bedrooms.
To receive assistance, applicants must complete an
application at the Housing Authority office and be determined eligible
according to income and family type. They are then placed on a
waiting list until they reach the top and a unit is made available to
them.
As with the Rental Subsidy Programs, participants must
verify income from all sources. They must also verify child care
expenses, family composition and other items of information necessary
for the Housing Authority to determine eligibility and level of rent.
